Statement Shoe copy

Whether it’s in our fave magazines, walking down the runway or in that adorable boutique around the corner- the statement shoe is well, making quite the statement. Now obviously there are some that we really don’t understand (heads up, wacky and weird does not automatically equal avant garde), there are more than a few that we would die to have in our closets.

Being the not-so-secret shopoholics that we are, we’ve obviously begun doing our shopping, or as we like to call it, research. And man oh man, there are a lot of options tempting us to open our wallets. In the end, we couldn’t help but fall in love with possibly the most gorgeous (and versatile!) statement shoes of the season. See? We can justify just about anything…

However, considering that we will spend this months rent on these major Givenchy high heeled metallic, clear and wooden sandals (possibly the new love of our life) – we have put together 3 (very cost friendly) looks that would look fabulous with these bad boys.

There are two things we absolutely love – shoes & social events. So we decided to mix the two together and see what we could come up with!

All three of us are very different – personality and style wise. So what are you? Modern Luxe, Urban Glam or Artsy Chic? What shoes would you rather rock at your next social event?

M is our modern luxe. She loves anything with an edge and the higher the better! Giuseppe Zanotti is her go-to pick for a show stopping party look.

P is our urban glam. She loves mixing classic styles with something a little bit unexpected. Yves Saint Laurent is both classic and fashion forward enough to suit her style.

K is our artsy chic. She loves anything unconventional and wants to make a statement. Nicholas Kirkwood is the perfect mix of style and innovation to suit her ever-changing tastes.

In a city filled with galleries, museums and a host of other fashion hot spots, Dover Street Market in London offers what could be considered one of the best ‘retail gallery’ experiences in the industry. The brainchild of fashion visionary Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons, DSM is a chic multi-floor fashion haven that showcases an eclectic and drool-inducing selection of pieces from Alaia, Lanvin, Demeulemeester and Rodarte, just to name a few. M of BOXNOIRE nearly died of happiness upon visiting the store in London this past summer. In her own words, “I just could not stop smiling and staring at the clothing. I wandered over to the Alaia corner, marvelling at his signature waist nipping leather corsets. I slipped on a couple of pairs of Alaia stiletto sandals, and some Nicholas Kirkwoods…and I was only getting warmed up!”.

The merchandise is unique to the shop itself, and you can seriously get lost in here for hours. Chances are, by the time you’re done, you’ll have worked up quite an appetite… thankfully on the top floor of the store is the Rose Bakery, full of tasty, organic treats.

Now for those of you pining to visit DSM – don’t book your tickets to London just yet. Dover Street Market is opening a location in NYC! We can barely contain our delight and excitement! The store is set to launch in NYC in December 2013. The 20,000 sq. ft., seven story space will be located at 160 Lexington Avenue and is sure to provide a fabulous shopping experience that will leave your arms full of shopping bags, and your wallet bare. xx
